Here are a few of the questions people have asked me!
If you have a question, please feel free to e-mail me at jaguarrior@hellokitty.com
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept credit cards and other payment through Paypal, with or without a Paypal account.
Also Well concealed cash and Money Orders. We do not accept checks at this time.
Where do your fibers come from?
All my fibers are recycled from sweaters. I take each one apart and measure, cut and wind them into skeins.
I get the sweaters from several different thrift stores and also yard sales.
Are your fibers clean?
I wash each sweater right before taking them apart and then a secind wash after it is taken apart to remove as much of the curl as possible so they are clean and fresh!
How do you store all these fibers?
I store all my fibers inside plastic gallon baggies inside of plastic tubs.
This makes it very easy to orgnize and keep dust out of them.
Are your fibers from a Smoke Free Home?
Yes! No cigarette smoke!
We do have a fireplace we use occasionally in the winter, but I keep the yarn stored so it won't affect it.
Are your fibers from a pet free home?
I do have a cat and a few small dogs, but I keep them well away from the yarn, and store it where they can't get to it!
Is the curl in the fibers permanent?
On most fibers the remaining curl will eventually come out. I can usually get most of it straightened out on the second wash.
Unfortunately yarns with acrylic will retain the curl. I think it is because the sweaters are laundered and run through the dryer before i get them and it sets the curl in.
it might be possible to use steam to release the curl, but I'm still experimenting with ways to straighten the yarn without damaging it.
When its knitted up, you don't usually see the texture unless its a very very loose knit.
How do you figure WPI?
I figure my WPI based on a ruler method, you wrap the yarn around an inch wide section of yarn and I have a chart that determines the weight of it.
It could be a just a little bit off, but most of the time its pretty close.
18 or more wpi - lace weight
16 wpi - fingering weight
14 wpi - sport weight
12 wpi - worsted weight
10 wpi - bulky
8 or less wpi - very bulky
Thats all the questions for the moment, i'll add more as more questions come up!
